WHAT IS A TYPICAL SESSION LIKE?

A typical session is an hour long. You will be asked a series of questions to complete a health assessment. These questions will include medical history, eating, sleeping, stress and exercise habits, medications/supplements, family history, etc. Then we will discuss your goals and discuss food in terms of what to eat and how much to eat. The session will conclude with forming a Plan of Care. The Plan of Care is an action plan listing out your goals and what you agree that you can and need to do to achieve your goals. Each session is different because every person is different.

Most clients attend nutrition appointments on an on-going basis for motivation and encouragement. In the beginning it is typical for clients to attend appointments on a weekly basis. As time goes on appointments gradually become less frequent (biweekly, monthly) and once goals are met they may only check in a few times per year.

Most insurance plans cover nutrition visits with a registered dietitian. I highly recommend you call the number on the back of your insurance card to verify insurance coverage.

WHAT IS MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY?

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is a therapeutic approach to treating medical conditions and their associated symptoms via diet therapy. MNT can increase a patient's health and well-being, and increase productivity and satisfaction levels through decreased doctor visits, hospitalizations and reduced prescription drug use.
